THE SAIL

The Sail is an architectural installation crafted from wood and white fabric, conceptualized and produced by the Chilean architects' collective TanzaLab and curated by Melanie Garland. Serving as a unifying element, it connects the various narratives presented across the different "islands" within the exhibition Somewhere Inbetween. Inspired by the concept of an archipelago, TanzaLab and Garland designed this piece to engage with the flow of navigation from both human and non-human perspectives, emphasizing the interconnectedness of journeys and experiences.

This architectural installation is delicately tensioned at specific points, creating a sense of balance and fragility. Its form evokes a sense of delicacy, drawing attention to the transient nature of movement and the vulnerability inherent in the act of navigation. Through its minimal yet profound presence, The Sail invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of the sea, the relationships it shapes, and the narratives that travel across its vast expanse.
