Artists’ Diaries: An Ethnographic Method
Artists’ diary is a method I use to archive, collect, and capture my journeys in the field. More than simple documentation, these diaries are art pieces in themselves, built on the principle that their elements—ideas, forms, or materials—remain interconnected. This flexible approach fosters creativity, turning each diary into a space where stories unfold across its pages. Over time, this practice has evolved into a hybrid tool, merging the artist’s diary with the ethnographer’s field journal. By blending artistic expression with analytical observation, I’ve developed a medium that weaves together narratives, poetry, drawings, subjective maps, and tangible objects, creating sensory, multidimensional accounts of everyday experiences.
